WHO WE ARE

The 877 Scholarship Foundation is based in District 877, but is governed and operated as an independent nonprofit.* Our purpose is to invest in education, our community and the future by providing academic scholarships to students of the 877 School District, including the areas of Buffalo, Hanover and Montrose.

OUR HISTORY: In 1957, the Buffalo Hospital Auxiliary established a scholarship, later named the J.J. Catlin Fund. By 1986, fourteen separate donor groups had created similar funds and it was agreed upon by representatives of the business, farming, church, family and professional sectors of Independent School District 877 to build a permanent fund for future scholarships. Our current aim is to continue this giving model and multiply the funds available for years to come.

HOW IT WORKS

EDUCATIONAL FUNDS: Specific funds are established by donors or money raised through fundraisers and non-specified donations are applied to a general fund.

PROGRAMS FUNDED: Awards are made to graduating High School Seniors who plan to continue their educational path in colleges, universities or technical institutes.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Scholarships are awarded in recognition of students’ academic performance as well as contributions to the school and the community. Seniors submit information detailing their activities and career plans in an application form distributed by the Senior High counseling staff. The Scholarship Selection Committee meets in April and May to review the applications and determine award recipients.

WAYS TO GIVE: Visit our GIVING page for detailed information.
